Ce dimanche 22 avril plus de 650 personnes sont venues visiter le Concorde à l’occasion de la célébration du 30 ème anniversaire de son arrivée sur le site du Musée Delta, le 12 avril 1988.
On Sunday, April 22nd, more than 650 people came to visit the Concorde to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its arrival on the site of the Delta Museum, on 12th April 1988.
Dans la matinée, 19 personnes ont assisté à la conférence de Monsieur Claude MONPOINT ancien navigant commercial Air France, mis à disposition de l’AEROSPATIALE en 1973 pour organiser le service à bord du SIERRA ALPHA lors des vols de démonstration et pour le premier vol supersonique transatlantique avec 32 passagers entre Washington et Orly en 3 heures 33 minutes.
In the morning, 19 people attended the lecture given by Mr. Claude MONPOINT, a former Air France steward, who was detached to AEROSPATIALE in 1973 to organize the service on board the SIERRA ALPHA during the demonstration flights, and for the first supersonic transatlantic flight, with 32 passengers on board, between Washington and Orly, which lasted 3 hours and 33 minutes.
La conférence a été suivie par l’intervention de Monsieur Yves PINGRET mécanicien navigant d’essais qui a fait décoller le 10 Janvier 1973 le SIERRA ALPHA avec le « patron » Jean FRANCHI, et l’équipage composé de Jean PINET pilote, Claude DURANT et Jean BELSON ingénieurs navigants d’essais. Monsieur PINGRET a superbement illustré en peu de mots efficaces, son métier et la vie du SIERRA ALPHA dont il a
occupé le poste de pilotage durant 158 vols sur un total de 314 effectués par l’avion.
The lecture was followed by Mr. Yves PINGRET’s speech. Mr Pingret wa s a flight test engineer who took off on January 10, 1973 on the SIERRA ALPHA with the "boss" Jean FRANCHI, and a crew composed of Jean PINET, pilot, Claude DURANT and Jean BELSON, test flight engineers. In a few efficient words, Mr. PINGRET greatly illustrated his job, being in the cockpit for 158 flights out of a total of 314 performed by the aircraft, and the life of the SIERRA ALPHA.
Mais il était certainement plus à l’aise dans « son » poste de pilotage, ou il a longuement expliqué à Laurent les différents disjoncteurs qu’il a manipulé durant les vols « pour que ça marche » !
However, he was certainly more comfortable in "his" cockpit, where he explained at length to Laurent the various circuit breakers he operated during the flights "to make it work"!
L’après-midi a commencé par la bienvenue adressée par Madame Françoise PAYEN et Madame Christine RODIER maire d’Athis-Mons aux participants, et l’invitation de partager le gâteau d’anniversaire offert par la ville aux invités en compagnie du député et du conseiller général de l’Essonne.
The afternoon began with Mrs. Françoise PAYEN and Mrs. Christine RODIER, Mayor of Athis-Mons, welcoming the participants, and with the invitation to share the birthday cake, offered by the city to the guests, along with the MP and the general councilor of Essonne.
Madame le Maire a enfin présenté le livre réalisé sur « La vie du SIERRE ALPHA » et qui relate l’histoire de l’avion et de ceux qui ont participé à son développement, sa vie active, sa retraite, son exposition aux visites guidées à Orly, son arrivée à Athis-Mons et les événements autour de lui depuis 30 ans.
The Mayor finally presented the book on "The life of the SIERRA ALPHA", which tells the story of the plane and of those who participated in its development, its active life, its retirement, its life as an exhibit in Orly for guided tours, its arrival at Athis-Mons, and all the events that have occurred over the last 30 years.
Une deuxième conférence a de nouveau réuni 19 personnes autour de messieurs MONPOINT et PINGRET. Durant toute la journée 337 personnes ont pu visiter l’avion et écouter les explications de Jean Pierre.
A second lecture gathered 19 people around Mr MONPOINT and Mr PINGRET. Throughout the day, 337 people could visit the plane and listen to Jean Pierre's explanations.
