A wooden mystery or the little-known story of “WOODY”

It was in 1967 at the 27 th Paris Air Show that the full-scale model of Concorde was presented to the general public, nicknamed “WOODY” by our regretted friend Jacques GUILLEM who took the three most beautiful photos below.

Here is a short history of this mysterious model.

Some photos taken during its installation at Le Bourget.

In front of a wooden model of the hostesses representing the first companies to have signed a letter of intent to purchase.

Certainly the same hostesses in a cabin that could be attributed to WOODY.

Cleverly the gangway is placed right along the rear fuselage and at first glance this gives the illusion that the stewardesses are descending the rear ladder of the plane.

WOODY even served as a « hangar » during the air show.

It housed under its wing a Rallye and the PA 49 Katy of Nicolas Roland PAYEN, founder of our museum.

In one of the french air force hangars in Dugny, the model will serve as a backdrop for a series of photos of the DS 23 Citroën.

In 1968 or 1969, WOODY will be transferred to the P7 parking lot at Orly next to the Caravelle F-BHHH prototype for ADP guided tours where it will begin its new life.

We continue our investigations.
