The Yellow Table Project – Part 3

The agreement was signed this Wednesday, June 3, 2026, on the table mock-up that the students had created prior to their arrival at the SA. It is a full-scale model that will be used to determine the final shapes they will adopt for the finished "yellow table."
Once the formal proceedings had concluded, the project’s aspiring artists gathered in a small group with the teachers in the SA’s aft cabin to discuss the work required to bring the “Yellow Table Project” to fruition.

Just a quick reminder: this build "will not be a simple copy." As agreed, the students will create "their own project" based on the few available photos of SA’s table and the plans of the SB’s table provided by our friends at Aerotheque.
They must determine how to install the final table in the aircraft and, above all, how to assemble the various parts so that it can fit through the entrance door and the narrow galley passageways.
This marks the beginning of extensive discussions between the teachers and the students.
determine the final dimensions of the table,
define the final shape of the base section,
decide where to position the four sliding trays.

The tabletop is the right size and the whole unit is the right height, but a corner is missing…

But not for long… crafted in the school workshop, the missing section was recreated and surfaced with Formica, just like the original; the fit between the two parts is remarkable.

Everything is reviewed: samples of the various Formica finish colors, the determination of the location, and the final size of the trays.

And that was when we realized that :
the mock-up’s base also serves as a surface for comments, notes, and calculations.
that this wonderful relationship between teachers and students is the foundation of the École Boulle’s success and renown.
and, above all, how fortunate we are to collaborate with this amazing team.

Now that the preparatory work is complete, the exchanges between the teachers and our guests follow.

Pierre Grange made a point of welcoming all the students involved in the project into the SA's cockpit.

And why not spark a new calling, following in the footsteps of Pierre Dudal.
After visiting the cockpit, everyone had truly earned the chance to fulfill their dream as well: a photo on the wing of the SA, immortalized by Sophie.

At the end of the workday in the SA, here is the final photo of the mock-up that will be used to create the "Yellow Table Project".

The final word on this wonderful day goes to the project's two initiators: Fabrice and Alexandre.

"Boys, this is your project; now it’s up to you to create that yellow table we’ve been dreaming of..."
